The South got Somethin’ to Say

My recent trip to Savannah was nothing short of amazing. The city's historic charm, beautiful architecture, and vibrant arts scene made it an unforgettable experience. But what made the trip truly special was discovering a unique piece of art I had to bring back to “Gangata’s Paradise.”

During my visit, I stumbled upon a quaint outdoor festival in the historic heart of the city. Walking around the booths, I was drawn to a beautiful piece of art quoting a powerful lyric from Andre' 3000, a legendary rapper from the Southern hip-hop duo Outkast. The quote read, "The South got Somethin’ to say." This line was a defining moment in hip-hop history, as it challenged the notion that all great rap music had to come from New York or Los Angeles. Andre' 3000 and Outkast's unique sound and style paved the way for many Southern artists who have since made their mark on the hip-hop industry. The night before I stumbled upon this piece, I watched “Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told,” I was impressed with how that event helped Southern rap artists into the mainstream.  Finding this piece of art seemed fated. I had to purchase it.

The artwork was created by a local artist named Panhandle Slim. His style involves highlighting powerful quotes by influential people. His work is very bright and colorful, and he brings the quotes to life. I was excited to purchase this piece and support this artist.

Discovering local art is one of the many joys of traveling, and we love incorporating it into our homes. Choosing to support local artists is something that I find important. When I support a local artist, I feel like I contribute to the community and preserve the local culture. Not only am I investing in the artist's work, but I am also investing in the community where the artist lives and works. I appreciate that local artists create unique pieces of art that cannot be found anywhere else. The personal touch and reflection of the artist's experiences make the artwork even more meaningful.  We hope to offer our guests a truly memorable and immersive experience by adding unique and authentic pieces to our properties. And in the case of "Gangsta's Paradise", we were lucky enough to discover an incredible piece of art that will be cherished.

I immediately knew this piece would be the perfect addition to "Gangsta's Paradise" The vibrant colors and bold design would add a pop of personality to the space while paying homage to the city's rich arts and culture scene. I recently hung the piece on the wall in the living room. It looks great. I hope you see it when you come to Charlotte and stay with us.

Live Well. See you soon.
